Caramel Apple Nachos with Pretzel Crunch
Course Snack
Cuisine American
Serving platter
Knife
Zip-top bag
Rolling pin
- 4 medium apples
- ½ cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup pretzel twists
- ¼ cup mini chocolate chips
Core the apples and cut them into thin wedges. Arrange the slices in a single overlapping layer on a large serving platter.
Place the pretzel twists in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin or the bottom of a glass until you have small pieces and crumbs.
Warm the caramel sauce slightly if it is too thick to drizzle. Pour it evenly over the apple slices.
Sprinkle the crushed pretzels across the top, followed by the mini chocolate chips. Serve right away so the pretzels stay crisp.
Warm the caramel just enough to flow in a thin stream so it coats the apples without making them soggy. If you need to prep ahead, slice the apples and store them in lemon water, then drain and dry well before assembling. The chocolate chips can be swapped for toffee bits if you want extra caramel notes, but keep the pretzel amount steady for the signature crunch.
