- 4 oranges, halved
- 8 ounces bourbon
- 2 cups apple cider
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- Ice cubes, for serving
Heat a dry skillet over medium-high heat. Place the orange halves cut side down in the skillet. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes until the cut sides turn dark and charred.
Remove two orange halves and set them aside for garnish. Juice the remaining two halves into a large pitcher.
Add the bourbon, apple cider, lemon juice, and maple syrup to the pitcher. Stir until the maple syrup dissolves.
Break two cinnamon sticks in half and drop them into the pitcher. Stir again to combine.
Fill four glasses with ice cubes. Pour the punch over the ice. Garnish each glass with a charred orange half and a whole cinnamon stick.
Char the oranges well to bring out the smoky flavor without burning them completely. If the punch tastes too tart, add a splash more maple syrup before serving. The cinnamon sticks release more spice if you let the mixture sit for 10 minutes before pouring.
