Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • 8x8 baking pan
  • oven
  • wire rack

Ingredients

  • 1 box (18-ounce) brownie mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup green frosting
  • 24 candy eyeballs
  • Black decorating gel
  • 8 pretzel sticks

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl, combine the brownie mix with the eggs, vegetable oil, and water until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into a greased 8x8 baking pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Remove the pan from the oven and let the brownies cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Cut the cooled brownies into 12 small squares.
  • Spread a thin layer of green frosting over the top of each square.
  • Press two candy eyeballs onto the frosting of each bite. Use the black decorating gel to draw a mouth and hairline.
  • Break each pretzel stick in half and gently push two pieces into the sides of each brownie bite to form bolts.

Notes

Frost the bites right before serving so the pretzel sticks stay crisp. If you need to make them ahead, store the unfrosted squares in an airtight container and add the decorations the day of the event. The black gel works best for fine details like stitches since it stays in place on the green frosting.
