Blender
Margarita glasses
Small plate
- 1 cup dark rum
- ½ cup chocolate liqueur
- ¼ cup fresh lime juice
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 4 cups ice cubes
- Flaky sea salt for rims
- Lime wedges for garnish
Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each glass and dip the rims into a small plate of flaky sea salt. Set the glasses aside.
Add the dark rum, chocolate liqueur, lime juice, cocoa powder, sugar, and ice cubes to a blender.
Blend on high until the mixture reaches a thick, smooth consistency with no large ice chunks remaining.
Pour the frozen mixture evenly into the prepared glasses.
Garnish each drink with a lime wedge and serve right away.
If the mixture turns out too thick after blending, add a splash of cold water and pulse again. For a deeper chocolate taste, swap the cocoa powder for 2 ounces of melted dark chocolate cooled slightly before blending. Store any leftovers in the freezer in a covered container and reblend with a few fresh ice cubes before serving.
