Course Snack
Cuisine American
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • small bowl
  • pastry brush

Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 12 sliced almonds
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Divide the pizza dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a thin log about 5 inches long.
  • Place the logs on the prepared baking sheet. Press one sliced almond firmly into the tip of each log to form a fingernail.
  • Bake for 12 to 14 minutes until the breadsticks are lightly golden.
  • While the breadsticks bake, stir together the melted butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, parsley, and salt in a small bowl.
  • Remove the breadsticks from the oven and immediately brush them with the garlic butter mixture.
  • Warm the marinara sauce and serve it alongside the breadsticks for dipping.

Notes

Press the almonds into the dough before baking so they stay in place. If the garlic butter cools, warm it for a few seconds in the microwave before brushing. Leftovers reheat well in a 350°F oven for five minutes to restore crisp edges. Skip the parsley if you prefer a milder garlic taste.
