Cuisine Italian
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Rolling pin
  • Mixing bowl
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced into 1/4-inch thickness
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 black olives, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 475°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle and place it on the prepared sheet.
  • In a mixing bowl, stir together the ricotta cheese, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper until smooth. Spread this mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edge.
  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese across the ricotta layer. Use a small ghost-shaped cutter or knife to cut ghost shapes from the fresh mozzarella slices. Place the shapes on top of the pizza and add two olive slices to each ghost for eyes.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese has melted. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 2 minutes. Scatter fresh basil leaves over the top before slicing.

Notes

Cut the ghost shapes while the fresh mozzarella is still cold so the edges stay clean. If the ricotta mixture feels too thick, add a teaspoon of olive oil to loosen it before spreading. Leftovers reheat best in a 350°F oven for 5 minutes to keep the crust crisp rather than using a microwave.
