Course Appetizer
Cuisine Mexican
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • 4 clear cups

Ingredients

  • 1 can (16 oz) refried beans
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup mild salsa
  • 1 cup prepared guacamole
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • Tortilla chips for serving

Instructions

  • Stir the sour cream and taco seasoning together in a bowl until the seasoning is fully mixed in.
  • Spoon about 1/4 cup of refried beans into the bottom of each of four clear cups and spread it into an even layer.
  • Add a layer of the seasoned sour cream over the beans in each cup, using about 1/4 cup per cup.
  • Spoon 1/4 cup of salsa on top of the sour cream layer in each cup.
  • Spread 1/4 cup of guacamole over the salsa in each cup.
  • Sprinkle 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top of the guacamole in each cup.
  • Place a few sliced black olives on the cheese layer of each cup to create simple window and door shapes.
  • Set the cups on a tray with a bowl of tortilla chips nearby for dipping.

Notes

Use clear plastic cups so the layers stay visible and keep the dip from drying out. Mix the sour cream right before assembling so it stays thick and does not separate. Leftovers can be covered and stored in the refrigerator for one day. Stir any separated liquid back into the top layer before serving again.
