Cuisine American
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Ladle

Ingredients

  • 4 cups pear juice
  • 2 ripe pears, cored and sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise pod
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  • Pour the pear juice into a large pot and add the sliced pears, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and orange slices.
  • Stir in the honey until it dissolves, then bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 20 minutes, stirring once or twice so the flavors blend evenly.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and strain the cider through a fine mesh strainer into a clean pitcher or serving bowl.
  • Ladle the warm cider into mugs and add a rosemary sprig to each one before serving.

Notes

Simmer the cider a little longer if you prefer a stronger spice taste. The rosemary sprigs add a woodsy note that pairs well with the pear and orange. Leftovers keep in the fridge for two days and reheat gently on the stove without boiling.
