Mulled Cranberry and Red Wine Punch
Course Drink
Cuisine American
Large Pot
Wooden Spoon
Ladle
- 1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine
- 2 cups cranberry juice
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 5 whole cloves
- 1 orange, sliced
- Fresh cranberries for garnish
Pour the red wine, cranberry juice, and honey into a large pot. Place the pot over medium heat.
Add the cinnamon sticks and cloves to the liquid. Stir gently until the honey fully dissolves.
Drop in most of the orange slices. Heat the mixture until it is hot but not boiling, about 10 minutes.
Remove the pot from the heat. Discard the cinnamon sticks and cloves if desired.
Ladle the punch into four mugs. Add the remaining orange slices and a few fresh cranberries to each serving.
Make the punch a few hours ahead and keep it in the fridge. Reheat on low heat without boiling to preserve the wine flavor. Taste and add a splash more honey if you prefer it sweeter. Whole spices make it easy to remove before serving so no one bites into a clove.
