Mummy-Wrapped Brie Grazing Board
Course Appetizer
Cuisine American
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • parchment paper
  • pastry brush
  • serving board

Ingredients

  • 8 oz wheel of brie cheese
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 black olives, sliced
  • 1 cup red grapes
  • 1 apple, sliced
  • 1/2 cup whole almonds
  • 4 oz salami slices
  • Assorted crackers

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Unroll the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into thin strips about half an inch wide.
  • Place the brie in the center of the baking sheet. Lay the pastry strips across the cheese in overlapping layers to create a wrapped mummy effect, leaving a small space near the top for the face.
  • Brush the pastry strips with the beaten egg.
  • Bake for 20 minutes until the pastry is golden and puffed.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Press the sliced olives into the open space to form eyes.
  • Transfer the baked brie to a large serving board. Arrange the grapes, apple slices, almonds, salami, and crackers around the cheese.

Notes

Keep the puff pastry cold before cutting so the strips hold their shape while wrapping. If the pastry browns too quickly, tent the board loosely with foil for the last few minutes of baking. Leftovers can be wrapped and reheated in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes to restore crispness.
