Mummy-Wrapped Brie with Fig Jam
Course Appetizer
Cuisine American
- 1 (8 oz) wheel of brie
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1/4 cup fig jam
- 2 black olives
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place the brie wheel in the center of the puff pastry sheet. Spread 2 tablespoons of fig jam over the top of the brie.
Cut the puff pastry into thin strips. Wrap the strips around the brie in a crisscross pattern to resemble mummy bandages. Leave a small gap near the top for the face.
Slice the black olives into small pieces and press two pieces into the gap to form eyes.
Transfer the wrapped brie to the baking sheet. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. Serve with the remaining fig jam on the side.
Cut the puff pastry strips evenly so they bake at the same rate. If the pastry browns too quickly, loosely cover the top with foil for the last few minutes. Leftovers can be reheated in a 350-degree oven to restore crispness.
