Poison Apple Prosciutto-Wrapped Dates
Course Appetizer
Cuisine American
- 12 Medjool dates, pitted
- 4 ounces goat cheese, softened
- 1 small red apple, finely diced
- 6 slices prosciutto, halved lengthwise
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Fresh thyme leaves, for garnish
In a small bowl, combine the softened goat cheese, diced apple, honey, and cinnamon until evenly mixed.
Open each pitted date and fill the center with about a teaspoon of the cheese and apple mixture.
Take one half slice of prosciutto and wrap it around each filled date, pressing gently to secure.
Arrange the wrapped dates on a serving plate and sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves before serving.
Dice the apple into very small pieces so the filling stays compact inside the dates. You can mix the filling and stuff the dates up to two hours ahead, then wrap with prosciutto right before guests arrive to keep the texture fresh. The thyme adds a subtle herbal note that balances the sweetness without overpowering the apple and cinnamon.
