Prosciutto-Wrapped Black Mission Figs with Aged Balsamic and Marcona Almonds
Course Appetizer
Cuisine Italian
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Oven
  • Parchment paper
  • Knife

Ingredients

  • 8 Black Mission figs
  • 8 thin slices prosciutto
  • 1/4 cup Marcona almonds
  • 3 tablespoons aged balsamic vinegar

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Slice each Black Mission fig in half lengthwise.
  • Wrap one slice of prosciutto around each fig half, leaving the cut side exposed.
  • Place the wrapped figs on the prepared baking sheet with the cut side up.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the prosciutto edges start to crisp.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for 2 minutes.
  • Roughly chop the Marcona almonds and sprinkle them over the figs.
  • Drizzle the aged balsamic vinegar evenly over each piece before serving.

Notes

Chop the almonds just before serving so they stay crunchy. If the balsamic is very thick, warm it slightly for easier drizzling. These figs taste best the day they are made, but you can assemble them up to two hours ahead and bake right before guests arrive.
