Pumpkin Caramel Popcorn Balls
Course Snack
Cuisine American
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Saucepan
  • Baking sheet

Ingredients

  • 8 cups popped popcorn
  • 1 cup soft caramels
  • 3 tablespoons pumpkin puree
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Butter for greasing hands

Instructions

  • Place the popped popcorn in a large bowl and set it aside.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the soft caramels, pumpkin puree, butter, pumpkin pie spice, and salt.
  • Stir the mixture constantly until the caramels melt and the ingredients form a smooth sauce.
  • Pour the warm caramel sauce over the popcorn and stir gently until all the popcorn is evenly coated.
  • Lightly grease your hands with butter, then scoop portions of the coated popcorn and press them into balls.
  • Set the formed balls on a parchment-lined surface and let them cool until firm.

Notes

Grease your hands again if the mixture starts to stick while shaping the balls. These hold up best when stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. If the caramel sauce thickens too much while stirring, lower the heat slightly and keep stirring to maintain a workable consistency.
