Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls
  • Baking Dish
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 5 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce, divided
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease an 8x8 baking dish.
  • Place the sliced apples in a large bowl and toss with the pumpkin pie spice and 1/4 cup of the caramel sauce until evenly coated.
  • Spread the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  • In a separate bowl, stir together the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and salt until the mixture forms clumps.
  • Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the topping is golden and the apples are soft when pierced with a fork.
  • Remove from the oven and drizzle the remaining 1/4 cup caramel sauce over the top before serving.

Notes

Use a mix of tart and sweet apples if you want to balance the pumpkin spice more. For a firmer topping, chill the oat mixture for 10 minutes before sprinkling it on. Leftovers reheat well in a 300°F oven for 10 minutes to restore crunch. Skip extra toppings since the caramel already provides enough sweetness.
