Skeleton Bone Breadsticks with Marinara
Course Appetizer
Cuisine American
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Pastry brush
  • Small bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 (13.8-ounce) tube refrigerated pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Unroll the pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into 8 equal pieces.
  • Roll each piece into a 6-inch rope. Pinch small bits of dough onto both ends of each rope to form bone shapes.
  • Arrange the shaped pieces on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Stir the melted butter together with the garlic powder and Italian seasoning in a small bowl.
  • Brush the butter mixture over the top of each breadstick.
  • Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese evenly across all pieces.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the breadsticks turn golden brown.
  • Warm the marinara sauce and serve it alongside the breadsticks for dipping.

Notes

Shape the bone ends firmly so they stay attached during baking. Warm the marinara right before serving so it does not cool the breadsticks. Leftovers keep in an airtight container for one day and reheat best in a 350°F oven for a few minutes to bring back crisp edges.
