Smoky Maple Bourbon Cider Bowl
Course Drink
Cuisine American
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Large bowl or pitcher
  • Ladle

Ingredients

  • 4 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • Apple slices, for garnish
  • Cinnamon sticks, for garnish

Instructions

  • Combine the apple cider and maple syrup in a saucepan over medium heat. Warm the mixture until it is hot but not boiling, stirring once or twice to dissolve the syrup.
  • Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the bourbon and liquid smoke until fully blended.
  • Pour the mixture into a punch bowl or large serving pitcher.
  • Add apple slices and cinnamon sticks to the bowl for garnish.
  • Ladle into cups and serve warm, or let the bowl cool to room temperature if you prefer a chilled version.

Notes

Warm the cider gently so the bourbon flavor stays bright. If the drink tastes too sweet after mixing, add an extra splash of cider to loosen it. You can combine the cider, maple, and liquid smoke the day before and simply reheat and stir in the bourbon right before guests arrive.
