Course Drink
Cuisine American
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Mixing glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Strainer
  • Rocks glasses

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces mezcal
  • 4 ounces apple cider
  • 1 ounce maple syrup
  • 8 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Apple slices for garnish
  • 4 cinnamon sticks for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  • Combine the mezcal, apple cider, maple syrup, and Angostura bitters in a mixing glass. Fill the glass with ice cubes and stir steadily for 20 seconds until the mixture is well chilled. Strain the drink evenly into four rocks glasses filled with fresh ice. Add an apple slice and one cinnamon stick to each glass before serving.

Notes

If the maple syrup feels too thick, warm it briefly before measuring so it blends smoothly with the other liquids. For a stronger smoke note, choose a mezcal with a higher percentage of espadin agave. The cinnamon stick can be used to stir the drink at the table, releasing extra aroma as guests sip.
