Saucepan

Ladle
Mugs
- 4 cups apple cider
- 1 cup cranberry juice
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 6 whole cloves
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 orange, sliced
- Cinnamon sticks for garnish
Pour the apple cider and cranberry juice into a medium saucepan. Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, and sugar.
Place the pan over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 15 minutes. Stir a few times so the spices release their flavor.
Remove the pan from the heat. Use a strainer to take out the cinnamon sticks and cloves.
Add most of the orange slices to the warm punch and stir once. Ladle into mugs and drop a fresh cinnamon stick into each one for garnish.
Make the punch a few hours ahead and keep it warm on the lowest stove setting. Taste before serving and add a little more sugar if you prefer it sweeter. The orange slices soften during simmering, so use fresh ones only for garnish.
