- 8 ounces gin
- 1 cup chopped ripe pear
- 8 cardamom pods, crushed
- 4 ounces fresh lemon juice
- 4 ounces simple syrup
- 16 ounces club soda
- Ice cubes
- 4 thin pear slices for garnish
- 4 cardamom pods for garnish
Place the chopped pear and crushed cardamom pods in a cocktail shaker and muddle firmly until the pear releases its juice.
Add the gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup to the shaker along with a handful of ice cubes.
Shake vigorously for 15 seconds until the mixture is well chilled.
Strain the liquid evenly into four ice-filled highball glasses.
Top each glass with club soda and stir gently once.
Garnish each drink with a pear slice and an extra cardamom pod.
Muddle the pear just until juicy to avoid a cloudy drink. If the pear is very ripe, reduce the simple syrup by half an ounce per serving. Prepare the muddled base ahead and keep it chilled, then shake and top with soda right before serving so the bubbles stay lively.
