Spiderweb Black Bean Dip with Tortilla Chips
Course Appetizer
Cuisine Mexican
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Food processor
  • Shallow bowl
  • Zip-top bag

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (15 oz each) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Juice from 1 lime
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Tortilla chips for serving

Instructions

  • Add the black beans, garlic cloves, cumin, chili powder, lime juice, and salt to a food processor. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  • Spoon the blended dip into a shallow serving bowl and spread it into an even layer.
  • Place the sour cream in a zip-top bag and snip off one corner to create a small opening. Pipe four or five concentric circles on top of the dip.
  • Use a knife or toothpick to drag lines from the center outward through the circles, forming a spiderweb pattern.
  • Arrange tortilla chips around the bowl for serving.

Notes

Pipe the sour cream circles just before guests arrive so the web stays sharp. If the dip seems too thick after blending, add a splash of water from the lime and pulse again. Leftovers keep in the fridge for two days in a covered container.
