Spiderweb Seven-Layer Dip with Tortilla Chips
Course Appetizer
Cuisine Mexican
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • 8x8-inch baking dish
  • small bowl
  • zip-top bag
  • spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 (16-ounce) can refried beans
  • 1 cup sour cream, divided
  • 1 cup guacamole
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Tortilla chips, for serving

Instructions

  • Spread the refried beans evenly across the bottom of an 8x8-inch dish to form the first layer.
  • Spoon half the sour cream over the beans and spread it smooth for the second layer.
  • Add the guacamole on top of the sour cream and spread it gently to cover.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the guacamole.
  • Scatter the diced tomato, sliced black olives, and chopped green onions across the cheese.
  • Place the remaining sour cream in a small zip-top bag, snip off one corner, and pipe thin lines to form a spiderweb pattern on top.
  • Serve the dip right away with tortilla chips on the side.

Notes

Pipe the sour cream web just before serving so the lines stay sharp. If you need to prepare ahead, assemble the layers without the web and add it at the last minute. A zip-top bag works fine for piping if you do not have a pastry bag. Keep leftovers covered in the refrigerator and eat within two days.
