Spiderweb Seven-Layer Taco Dip
Course Appetizer
Cuisine Mexican
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Shallow Serving Dish
  • Plastic Bag

Ingredients

  • 1 (16 oz) can refried beans
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream, divided
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup guacamole
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives

Instructions

  • Spread the refried beans evenly across the bottom of a shallow serving dish or pie plate.
  • Stir 1 cup of the sour cream with the taco seasoning until smooth. Spread this mixture over the beans.
  • Spoon the guacamole over the sour cream layer and spread it gently to cover.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top of the guacamole.
  • Add the diced tomatoes as the next layer.
  • Place the remaining 1/2 cup sour cream in a small zip-top bag, snip off one corner, and pipe concentric circles on top. Drag a knife from the center outward in several spots to form the web design.
  • Place black olive slices on the web to look like spiders. Serve with tortilla chips.

Notes

Make this dip a few hours ahead so the layers set and the flavors blend. Use a clear glass dish if you want to show off the layers at the potluck. Skip the web piping if you prefer a quicker assembly and just spread the final sour cream layer flat.
