Spooky Blackberry Bramble with Activated Charcoal
Course Drink
Cuisine American
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Jigger
  • Glasses

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces gin
  • 1 cup fresh blackberries, plus extra for garnish
  • 4 ounces fresh lemon juice
  • 3 ounces simple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon food-grade activated charcoal
  • Crushed ice, for serving
  • 4 lemon twists, for garnish

Instructions

  • Place the blackberries in a cocktail shaker and muddle them until they release their juices.
  • Add the gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, and activated charcoal to the shaker.
  • Fill the shaker with regular ice, secure the lid, and shake for 15 seconds until well chilled.
  • Fill four glasses with crushed ice.
  • Strain the mixture evenly into the prepared glasses.
  • Garnish each drink with a few extra blackberries and a lemon twist.

Notes

Muddle the blackberries just enough to break them down without turning them to pulp, as this keeps the drink smoother. If the charcoal flavor feels too noticeable, add an extra half ounce of simple syrup per batch to round it out. Prepare the simple syrup ahead and store it in the fridge so assembly stays quick at serving time.
