Course Appetizer
Cuisine American
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • pastry brush
  • small saucepan

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 12 whole almonds
  • 1 cup marinara sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Divide the pizza dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a thin finger shape about 5 inches long.
  • Use a knife to make two or three shallow cuts across each finger to create knuckle lines.
  • Press one almond firmly into the tip of each finger to form a nail.
  • Place the shaped fingers on the prepared baking sheet and brush them with the melted butter.
  • Sprinkle the garlic powder and salt evenly over the buttered dough.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the breadsticks turn light golden.
  • Warm the marinara sauce in a small saucepan or microwave and serve it alongside the breadsticks for dipping.

Notes

Press the almonds in place before baking so they stay attached once the dough rises slightly. If the dough feels too sticky while shaping, dust your hands lightly with flour. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for one day and reheated briefly in a 350-degree oven to restore crisp edges.
