Witch Finger Breadsticks with Marinara
Course Appetizer
Cuisine American
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 4-5 drops green food coloring
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 20 whole blanched almonds
  • 1 cup marinara sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place the pizza dough in a mixing bowl and knead in the green food coloring until the color is evenly distributed.
  • Divide the dough into 20 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a thin finger shape about 4 inches long.
  • Press one blanched almond into the tip of each finger to create a nail.
  • Lightly score two or three lines across the middle of each finger with a knife to suggest knuckles.
  • Arrange the fingers on the prepared baking sheet. Brush them with olive oil and sprinkle evenly with garlic powder and salt.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the breadsticks are golden. Serve warm with the marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Score the knuckles right after shaping so they hold their look after baking. If the dough feels sticky while rolling, lightly dust your hands with flour. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in a 350°F oven for a few minutes to restore crispness.
