Witch Finger Pretzel Rods with Cheese Dip
Course Appetizer
Cuisine American
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk

Ingredients

  • 12 pretzel rods
  • 1 cup green candy melts
  • 12 whole almonds
  • 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Place the green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth.
  • Dip the bottom two-thirds of each pretzel rod into the melted candy, letting excess drip back into the bowl.
  • Lay the coated rods on a parchment-lined baking sheet and press one almond onto the tip of each rod to form a fingernail.
  • Let the rods sit at room temperature until the candy coating sets.
  • Combine the shredded cheddar, milk, butter, and garlic powder in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
  • Stir steadily until the cheese melts and the mixture turns smooth and creamy.
  • Transfer the warm dip to a serving bowl and arrange the finished pretzel rods around it.

Notes

Make the cheese dip right before serving so it stays pourable. If it thickens while sitting, stir in a splash of warm milk to loosen it again. Keep the pretzels at room temperature until the coating hardens fully to avoid smudges.
