Witch's Broomstick Pretzel Skewers
Course Appetizer
Cuisine American
- 12 pretzel rods
- 6 mozzarella string cheese sticks
- 12 fresh chives
Cut each string cheese stick in half crosswise so you have 12 shorter pieces.
Hold one cheese piece upright and use a small knife to make thin vertical cuts from the top down, stopping about one-third of the way. Repeat with all pieces to create fringe.
Press the uncut end of each fringed cheese piece onto one end of a pretzel rod so the fringe flares outward like broom bristles.
Wrap one chive around the cheese where it meets the pretzel and tie it gently to hold the broom shape in place.
Set each finished skewer on a plate and repeat until all pieces are assembled.
Keep the cheese cuts shallow so the fringe stays attached at the base. If a chive feels stiff, run it under warm water for a few seconds to make it easier to tie. These skewers taste best the same day, but you can cover and chill them for a few hours before serving.
