Zombie Brain Cauliflower Mash Bowls
Course Side Dish
Cuisine American
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Potato masher
  • Small pan
  • Serving bowls

Ingredients

  • 2 large heads cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 4 fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the cauliflower florets. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes until the cauliflower is very soft.
  • Drain the cauliflower well and return it to the pot. Add the butter, heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper.
  • Mash the mixture with a potato masher until it reaches a smooth consistency, then stir in the grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Divide the mash among four bowls. Use a spoon to shape each portion into an uneven oval that resembles a brain.
  • Warm the marinara sauce in a small pan over low heat for 2 minutes. Drizzle 2 tablespoons over each shaped mash.
  • Top each bowl with one fresh basil leaf before serving.

Notes

Shape the mash while it is still warm so it holds the brain form without cracking. If the mash feels too thick after mashing, add an extra splash of cream to loosen it. Leftovers reheat well in the microwave with a cover to keep the texture creamy.
