Knife
- 4 medium apples, cored and thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1/2 cup pecans
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Place the pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat. Stir them often for 3 to 4 minutes until they smell toasted and turn slightly darker. Remove them from the heat and let them cool.
Arrange the apple slices in a single overlapping layer on a large serving platter.
Warm the caramel sauce slightly if it is too thick, then drizzle it evenly over the apple slices.
Sprinkle the toasted pecans across the top.
Finish with a light dusting of sea salt right before serving.
Choose a mix of tart and sweet apples so the caramel does not overwhelm the fruit. Toast the pecans ahead and store them in an airtight container so the dish comes together quickly at party time. If the apple slices sit out too long they can brown, so slice them just before guests arrive.
