Grilled Halloumi with Hot Honey and Pistachios
Course Appetizer
Cuisine Mediterranean
- 8 ounces halloumi cheese, sliced into ½-inch thick pieces
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ¼ cup hot honey
- ¼ cup shelled pistachios, roughly chopped
Pat the halloumi slices dry with a paper towel and brush both sides lightly with olive oil.
Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat until very hot.
Place the halloumi slices in the pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden brown with clear grill marks.
Transfer the grilled halloumi to a serving plate.
Drizzle the hot honey evenly over the slices.
Sprinkle the chopped pistachios on top and serve right away.
Halloumi holds its shape best when the pan is properly preheated, so give it a full minute before adding the cheese. If your hot honey is very thick, warm it slightly for easier drizzling. Leftovers can be reheated briefly in a skillet to restore the crisp edges, though the pistachios are best added fresh.
