Skeleton Bone Breadsticks with Marinara
Course Appetizer
Cuisine American
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Small saucepan

Ingredients

  • 1 (16-ounce) package refrigerated pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Unroll the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface and divide it into 8 equal pieces.
  • Roll each piece into a long rope about 6 inches in length, then press the ends slightly wider to form a bone shape.
  • Place the shaped dough on the prepared baking sheet and brush each piece lightly with olive oil.
  • Sprinkle the garlic powder evenly over the breadsticks, followed by the grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the breadsticks are golden on the edges.
  • Warm the marinara sauce in a small saucepan or microwave and serve it alongside the breadsticks for dipping.

Notes

Shape the dough ropes a little thicker at the ends before baking so the bone look stays clear after they rise. If you want to prep ahead, form the bones and keep them covered in the fridge for up to two hours before baking. Leftovers reheat best in a 350-degree oven for a few minutes to restore the crisp edges.
