Course Appetizer
Cuisine Italian
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Oven
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Pastry Brush

Ingredients

  • 1 (16-ounce) package refrigerated pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 cup marinara sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Unroll the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface and divide it into 8 equal pieces.
  • Roll each piece into a rope about 8 inches long, then twist the ends slightly to form a bone shape.
  • Place the shaped dough on the prepared baking sheet and brush each piece evenly with the melted butter.
  • Sprinkle the garlic powder, oregano, and Parmesan cheese over the top of each breadstick.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the breadsticks turn golden brown.
  • Warm the marinara sauce in a small saucepan over low heat while the breadsticks bake, then transfer it to a serving bowl.

Notes

Shape the dough ropes a bit thicker in the middle and thinner at the ends for a clearer bone look. Brush the butter on right before baking to help the cheese stick without soaking in. Leftovers reheat best in a 350-degree oven for five minutes to restore crispness. Skip extra herbs if you want a milder garlic flavor.
