Smoky BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders with Slaw
Course Appetizer
Cuisine American
Servings 4 people

Equipment

  • Slow Cooker
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Skillet

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless pork shoulder
  • ¾ cup smoky BBQ sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 8 slider buns
  • 2 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1 large carrot, grated
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  • Rub the pork shoulder with smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Place it in a slow cooker and pour ½ cup of the BBQ sauce over the top.
  • Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours until the pork shreds easily with two forks. Shred the meat directly in the slow cooker and stir in the remaining ¼ cup of BBQ sauce.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrot, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir until the slaw is evenly coated.
  • Split the slider buns and lightly toast them in a skillet over medium heat if desired. Spoon pulled pork onto the bottom halves and add a generous spoonful of slaw on top. Close with the bun tops and serve right away.

Notes

Make the pork a day ahead and reheat it gently on the stove with a splash of water to keep it moist. If the slaw sits too long it softens, so mix it just before serving or keep the dressing separate until assembly. For a bit more smoke, add an extra pinch of smoked paprika to the finished pork before building the sliders.
